Electric Bouzouki The electric bouzouki is a stringed instrument invented and developed by Donal Lunny himself. While modifying the original Irish bouzouki, Donal found that its sound needed an extra boost especially in the ensemble. With the help of guitar maker Danny Ferrington, Donal was able to create yet another contribution to the world of musical instruments.

As with all traditional acoustic instruments attempts were made to create an electric version of the bouzouki. Pick-ups were added and solid framed instruments were built. Unlike electric guitars however they were never mass-produced but were designed to order for individual musicians.

While clearly allowing for a greater range and scope the electric bouzouki has not been adopted with the same enthusiasm by traditional musicans as its acoustic counterpart.
