Irish Bouzouki
The
bouzouki is a stringed instrument
first introduced from Greece into Ireland in
the Sixties, a time when Irish traditional music was
undergoing great experimentation.
A few craftsman developed it
further by using different
woods and affecting alterations
to the string arrangements such as the Bailey and the
Abennett Bouzouki.
But it was the prototype that
Donal Lunny first commissioned while a member of
Planxty
that was to become known as the Irish bouzouki.
